Sónia Pires Pereira

Aveiro, 1970. Holds a degree in Architecture from the University of Porto – FAUP (1987 – 1995), is currently a PhD student in Architecture at the University of Beira Interior (UBI), Covilhã, Portugal, and an external researcher at CIAUD - Center for Research in Architecture, Urbanism and Design (Covilhã Hub). Her doctoral research focuses on the urban development of the Beira Mar neighbourhood in Aveiro.Sónia Pires Pereira, work in the Urban Management Division of the Municipality of Aveiro, having as her main responsibilities the planning and management that the law imposes on the Municipality, contributing, in collaboration with the Planning Department of the Territory, for the definition of policies within the scope of urbanism based on sustainability principles. It is also responsible for monitoring, guiding, dynamizing and disciplining all private initiatives in the field of construction and spatial planning, responding to construction requests, as well as urban rehabilitation promoted by individuals, such as licensing of works, licensing of industrial buildings , commercial and others, observing current regulatory provisions, urban insertion and architectural quality of the projects.
